Re: [DML] Houston Concours '07

No, the awards that even I got were not needed.

HOWEVER, there is a big difference between winning an
award for a specific show, in a specific category
versus an award claiming a particular car is the "best
of the best".

Sure, I know it goes on all of the time. Not only
cars, but EVERYTHING.

I have no problem giving an award for "best in show"..
but "best of the best"? It is short sighted to ever
think something is the "best of the best".

Once again, I have no problem with competition and am
aware of the time, money, and effort that goes in to
competing in Concours. If such an event gives you
pleasure, that is just wonderful. But that in NO WAY
makes the car the "Best of the Best".

My DeLorean is a heck of a lot more fun to drive than
those Concours cars... So, MY car is the BEST and I
don't need a trophy to confirm it.

Ron, I agree with everything you say below. My issue
is with the assertion that a particular car is "best",
especially when people continue to say that this
distinction makes a car more valuable.

"Best" is in the eye of the beholder, as is Value.
