Re: [DML] DeLorean Owners Association Event – Las Vegas May 2007 – Postponed

As to the cancellation of the event I'd have to say that I believe the DOA
is not quite DOA, but close.
When I received my invitation in the black envelope I was impressed and when
I opened it I was wondering who was going to pay that much for a room and
event. I knew I could not make the event as I had another event to go to in
the time frame that had been set. My daughter will receive her Masters Degree
on the 19th and we will have returned from a reunion a couple of days before.
What struck me was the price difference between Ken's shows and this one.
Vegas is a tourist haven and the hotels will fight over each other to get you
the best deal. It seemed to me that $229 for three nights ($687) and
registration for two ($ 450) for a total of $1,137.00 before you consider airfare
and incidentals. Basically it out priced itself. The DOA is an organization
that needs new blood. I've yet to see a treasurers report or accounting of
any kind. I wonder how much the invitations cost to print and mail. The
organization needs to change, get new blood to infuse energy. An organization
that will not change will not last and change is difficult. DOA has a young
President and I believe he can move the organization forward.
Pick a spot in the middle of the country and have a show every year with
DOA doing one and the next year Ken doing one.
