Re: [DML] Did any vendors mail a fuel distributor to someone and have it lost...

Well I guess I stand corrected!
Just seems a little odd to me.

a quick search on google returns:

http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abu/y202/m05/abu0070/s02

"The Post Office is no novice to traditional auctions, having used them to
dispose of undeliverable mail since the early 1900s. Every 6-8 weeks, the USPS
would hold auctions at their three Mail Recovery Centers (MRCs) in Atlanta, St.
Paul and San Francisco...."

I don't think there even is such as a thing as a 'lost mail freight
auction'. I keep hearing about how the US mail will deliver a letter from 1952
that
they found under a 40 ton sorting machine, etc.

Think about this:
It is highly unlikely that the part would be undeliverable since the box it
came in would have had both a destination and return address, and there would
also be a shipping manifest or invoice that would also have the destination
and address. I believe the mail service would have returned the part to the
sender before they put it up for auction.

My guess is that this was stolen off someone's porch.
