Re: [DML] iPod adapter?

Steve,

The Belkin iPod adapter is the only way to go, assuming you are capable of
and willing to make your own "dock" of sorts (if you want a dock).

Why is the Belkin the best? Simply, when you remove power from it, your iPod
will pause. I can only assume the Belkin unit sends an actual signal to the
iPod some how. Other adapters don't do this, so you have to manually pause
the iPod when you get out of the car. I wired in a new cigar lighter socket
behind the dash, hooked up to the accessory wire off the ignition, so when I
turn the key off it loses power and my iPod stops playing.

The Belkin also has a volume control on board. I wrestled with the "it's not
a TRUE line-out" issue, as other adapters boast a "true" line-out with no
circuitry involved. I found that said other adapters overdrove the aux input
on my stereo, making them worthless. With the Belkin, I dial it's on-board
volume control to just below distortion levels and everything is great (the
iPod's volume control does nothing to control the volume coming out of the
dock connector. It's just for the headphone output.)
