[DML] Terrible AM reception...

... but only at night.

Seriously. FM reception is fine 24/7. AM reception is great in the
morning, slowly degrades in the afternoon, and is useless at night.

It's not the station. Happens on all stations (though worse on the
higher stations). It's not the area where I live; my other vehicle is
fine. It started about a month or two ago. I hadn't changed anything
on the car, just got in after work one night and Michael Savage was so
full of static, I had to turn him off. Flipped down a station and Dave
Ramsey was full of static. Flipped down more stations and they were
all that way! Figured it was a fluke and would go away but it hasn't.

So, a couple of weeks ago I replaced my antenna. My old one wasn't
extending fully any longer and I'd been meaning to replace it for
awhile. New antenna comes all the way up like it should but the
problem remains.

The static does get worse as engine RPMs increase. When driving it's
useless. When idling, it's somewhat acceptable, but still bad. And
again, only at night. I tried flipping the headlights off, figuring
they might be contributing, but no change.

What now?!
