[DML] Re: To Cut or Not to Cut..Front Dash for Radio

You *missed* the point,I was comparing the Delorean to the cars I OWNED in that time era, since I had a Vette, and the Bricklin, and the "D", I was comparing it to the Stereos in my other cars, and as for the speakers/radio,unless you *owned* a still new Delorean,in that time era,you cannot really judge how good or bad they are,...and no buying and installing NOS, 25 plus year old DMC speakers,IS NOT the same thing,as having, unaged speakers, still fresh speakers, you have to remember 12 watts back then WAS...a decent stereo setup, and most stereos,in cars came without,LED,most cars had the old fashion slide rule dials, not digital tuning, heck EVEN the stupid LED,clock was a big thing in 1981,if I remember right,LCD,had just come out and were just being applied to car Stereos,You are right to a certain point, you *could* get a better Stereo, but it really was not worth it,to spend the $$$,and get very little improvement, unlike today,it does make a big difference.

Even "Back-In-The- Day" in the '80's they could have done a whole lot
better. The speakers that were used are about the lowest grade of cr-p
that you could buy. The radio puts out about 12 watts per channel
before it starts to distort. DMC *could* have done better, I am sure
it came down to economics. ASI and Craig were not top brands but they
probably fit the price level. In the 80's you could get a Bose set-up
in Cadillac too from the factory so obviously everything has it's
price-point. As for comparing a Bricklin to a Delorean, again you miss
the point. Different car, different design philosophy, different era.
