It's really a question of how much one is willing to spend to make a DeLorean driveable again to determine if it will be a parts car or not. I found a car about two weeks ago that is a non-runner and the interior was gutted, but the frame, panels, and body are good.  A friend of me wants to buy the car to restore it.  Not what I would do, but to each his own.

AFter cleaning and draining the oil and water, The motor actually ran, 
but one cylinder smoked. The trans was a little rusted, but worked.. 
The interior was shot, but I managed to save a few things. Since the 
body is fiberglass, interior restoration was a lot easier than a steel 
car. Just clean up and add replacement components.

The reality is if he wanted to save the D he could. It is just a mater 
of time and money.
