No problem on the picture, I'm documenting everything I'm doing to the 
car.

This work was completed over a year ago, so I have to rely on memory 
about the collar thickness. I think it was something like 1/4" (~6.4 
mm).

The collar does not affect in the installation depth of the ball 
joint. You will have the same amount of space available to install the 
clip.
