Who came up with these rules!  If its custom there are no rules.  Ive 
seen some very nice Ds with a cloth center panel for comfort and the 
edges done in leather or vinyl.  If it looks like a "hack job", thats 
the shops fault.  As for the rest of the "rules"... dont tell Curtis.
