I am getting new tires today, so now I am confused. This post says to
go with the pressure for the new tires, but earlier posts say to go
with what the plate in the car says. So which is it?

Actually, every post is saying the same thing. Read again - Sandor is
saying, like others, to use the tire pressures as suggested in the glove box
sticker for your new tires since they will be the same size and similar speed/load
ratings as OEM.
