[DML] Use of Silicone Seal / RTV

I've heard that the use of any silicone product such as silicone sealer 
or RTV is death for the O2 sensor.

Is this true for use in the intake system as well or does the 
combustion process eliminate the evil humors ?

I was thinking of using some on the idle tube that connects under the 
fuel distributor.
