[DML] Re: Dealing with windshield when replacing A post trim

Don't 'cha just love it when you can answer your own posts?

Your glass man is right, although it is possible, more people break
windows getting them out than not. It only takes one little slip.

In the build of the car, the post covers are installed prior to the
glass. Depending on how the vinyl was cut, the glass may actually be
glued partially to the vinyl. Be careful about pulling it off, the
operative move is to cut it with a sharp razor blade since you don't
want to pull the glue out from under the glass.

The posts just sort of glue in, I don't recall any metal clips on the
ones I've done. Hoopefully it will be obvious when you pull the old
covers off, if no metal clips fall out you probably don't need the
new ones. I recall it being handy to have a bunch of those huge clips that you get at Harbor Freight to hold it all together while the glue dries.
