Ah; a quick look at DMCH's site / parts manual, it looks like the
slider is indeed sold seperately ($9.93) for the later style shifter.
 For the early style, it appears to not even be stocked anymore, and
when it was, it was part of the larger indicator assembly.  I haven't
seen the later part in person, so without knowledge of the thickness,
etc... I'm not sure my folder hack will even work.  If you're in that
scenario, you'll need to judge.
