Guys,
I would dispute the $25,000 rule but perhaps not the $17,000 rule.
I purchased a Delorean (March 2003) in completely original condition, and I 
mean original as in no modifications and original tires etc. etc. .. Nothing 
had been changed.
It had 24,300 miles on it. I paid a mechanic to do nearly everything.
I ended up with about $16,000 in this car and it runs like new. I still 
have some minor cosemetics to due but the car looked mint to begin with 
except for the drivers seat cover and some paint touch up under the hood. 
I've made all modifications on this car and I wouldn't be afraid to drive it 
across country.
I intend to do the simple touch-ups which I expect will amount to another 
$1,000.00 to $1500.00 and I currently have about $16,000 into this car. At 
that point, it will actually be a show car. What's interesting is that I 
felt I paid about $1500.00 too much for this car because of the risk factors 
with buying a car that's not running. These are very beautiful automobiles 
and as I watch this web site I notice that the trick to this car is to 
understand it. I do not enjoy working on cars but I enjoy understanding 
them. If you do that, you can direct your mechanic very economically.
