Re: [DML] The Golden DeLorean

I was once approached to purchase possibly a fourth "Gold DeLorean about 10 years ago. It was perported to have been built from the spare body panels supporting the two Am. Ex. cars that were built. The problem was that there had been a driver door that had been replaced and so this fourth car was without a proper door.It therefore had it's driver door gold electroplated in a makeshift plastic bag of platiing solution instead of the large (expensive) tank that was created for the original build. The driver door was duller and not a very good visual match with the rest of the car. It may be that this car has re-surfaced or maybe this is the "last" car mentioned below.

There's one in Reno, Nevada and the other is in Snyder, Texas. These are the
2 that were ordered through the American Express promotion. As far as I
know, the owner that lives in Maryland has the gold plated "last" Delorean
that was made.

Coincidentally, I emailed Ken Koncelik about this last week. I believe he's
following up on trying to get the one in Maryland to Pigeon Forge (tentative
on the owners health, as I understand). I have a newspaper article talking
about a new car museum in Tupelo, Mississippi by Frank Spain, in which it is
mentioned that there may be a gold Delorean on display there.
As far as I know, there are only 3 gold D's in existence, the one in Snyder
hasn't left there in 20 years, so I'm not sure if the guy in Tupelo has his
on loan from the Reno Museum, or from the guy in Maryland, assuming there's
one still on display there at all. The article is from January of this year.

Isn't there supposed to be one in Reno Nevada as well?

The "last" delorean was gold. This car was in

Guys,

I read that there is/was a gold DeLorean in a museum
in Maryland.

Is it still there or was it sold? I read so much
lore that I can't
keep it all straight. Where in Maryland is it?

Since I live in Maryland, I don't see how I could be
a true DeLorean
owner without making such a short pilgrimage to see
this car if it is
accessible in a museum.

I always did like that saddle brown interior...
