Re: [DML] Gas Flap.

I dug this up about the gas flap.

http://www.delorean-owners.org/legend/diff.html

Basically, the gas flap was removed to cut cost. There was another page I had come across (cant find it) saying that part of the issue was alot of rejects on the hood, it was thought to be the gas flap but found out later it was the lines in the hood. Of course I can not confirm this.

I heard, back when, that there was a concern about vandalism (sugar in the
gas tank?). I suspect it could have been a cost savings/ production
efficiency issue. Maybe it was justified as making the styling sleeker.
Maybe all three were brought up when the decision was made.

So, what *was* the reasoning behind the gas flap being discontinued? Was
it materials & production costs? Were there defects & problems? It seemed
like the original idea was better than the post gas flap design....
