[DML] Rare Engine Compartment "Relay"?

Hi,

I have noticed a somewhat corroded "relay" in my engine compartment. I tried 
browsing the manuals, but I couldn't find out what this really is and what 
it does. From the outside appearance of this "relay", I guess I should 
change this with a new one...

Can anyone tell me the function of this "relay"? What "relay" is it and what 
does it do? Maybe its a "circuit breaker" of some sort???

The "relay" is located next to/under the bracket to which the resistor is 
mounted, along with the switch for the engine compartment light. Any ideas?
