[DML] Re: Here's the answer! 81, 82, 83

I can put the hood line thing to rest right now. I saw the last 1981 and the
first 1982 produced side by side. The differences are as follows: 1981 had
hood lines and the 1982 did not. Off the top of my head I cannot remember if
the 82 had the hood badge or not, but when I get the pictures I took of the
two developed, I will let you know. One other BIG difference between the two
was the grain of the stainless steel. The 81 was a very smooth, silky grain.
The 82 had a more rough, and jaggedy grain to it. The difference is VERY
subtle. It isn't noticible unless the cars are side by side and you are
looking very closely at them and looking for a difference. I spoke with Rob
Grady about this, and he confirmed to me that the factory did indeed change
the brushing techniques for the 82 model year. I know for a fact that
neither one of these cars was ever re-brushed, because they have never been
titled and have been in storage since they were built and shipped. I saw
them myself. These observations are not 2nd hand. These cars are brand new
and untouched. (Please don't e-mail me for more info about these cars. I
just want to answer this question.) I hope this helps. ---Dan
