[DML] Re: engine additives



I disagree with some parts of this statement, being a pharmaceutical chemist
for 10+ years I have some background in organic chemistry. Let's not kid
ourselves, the bottom line with the oil companies is the almighty dollar.
They are just as concerned with what distillation by-products they can dump
off in their products as what they are trying to keep out of it, the gas you
buy at the pump is a prime example of this. Although companies that produce
additives don't have the budgets of the large oil companies they have still
done some respectable research. Sure, there are some garbage products out
there but I wouldn't condemn the whole industry especially in light of the
"wonderful" oil companies.
