[DML] Re: Door removal and broken windows

The hazard lies in not holding the torsion bar in check when releasing the 2 retaining bolts. The bracket holding the back end of the bar then rotates & strikes the rear window. Solution- use cheater bar to SLOWLY release torsion bar & slide retaining bracket off. This situation caused me some blood loss & quite a bit of irritation. Proceed SLOWLY & CAREFULLY using plenty of leverage on the bar. AND don't forget to have the door propped open by something sturdy. Drive Stainless Robert VIN 6924

Someone mentioned a D's rear window breaking when the door was removed- is
this a common problem? I don't need to remove any doors but wondered if the
occasion ever arises, is it something to be wary of?
