[DML] Rusty headlight brackets

I am in the process of replacing my front fascia, and when I got the 
black headlight buckets out, I saw that the metal bracket pieces 
(that the other end of the spring attaches to) on each side were 
quite rusted. I decided to go ahead and order new ones from DMCH to 
put in, but I was curious to any opinions on what to do to keep 
these ones from rusting like that as well. Is there something I can 
coat them with, or perhaps have them powder coated (avoiding the 
spring) or something? Thanks for the advice!
