Just one of many online retailers:

http://www.trucknvans.com/bulbs/

You want 194 series.

Bought some colored bulb covers from them (application required
sideways light beams). Very satisfied with service.

Subject: Re: kicked in the you-know-where

As stated in the last post for a private individual the biggest
advantage in leasing is the chance to drive a better car than you can
afford. There are much better reasons for a business to lease cars.
All the interest and, under the right terms, the depreciation are
deductable expenses. For most businesses rolling stock, as the cars
and trucks are refered to, are completely depreciated by the end of
the term of the lease anyway. It keeps the average age of the fleet
young and the repair costs low and the reliability high. For most
private people the best way to own a car is to own it as long as
possible to average out the high depreciation of the first years. If
you finance the car you can sell it at the end of the term for
whatever you can get, not so in a lease (read rental). This implies
that it will be well maintained so as it gets older it doesn't kill
you with high operating and maintaince costs. Most owners as a general
rule neglect maintaince so this is difficult to do. The other thing
working against you is the advertising trying to entice you into the
newest, latest and greatest. If you have to borrow money to buy a
Delorean IMHO you should rethink the reasons you want the car. In
addition to the purchase price you have insurance, storage, parts, and
labor. The worst of all cases is to have to stretch to make the
payments and not be able to afford the repairs so you can't even drive
the car if it breaks down.

HI  everyone,  I'm the new owner of vin 3270, a 5 spd
with gray interior, and is not painted. I have wanted
one for about 12 years, its been a long wait!!! But
enough of that, Here's the problem, with the a/c on it
gets cold, and you can hear the fan blowing hard but
very little air comes out of the vents. It is getting
vacume to the switch, but something ain't right.
Thanks Casey

Subject: Door lock warning

I finally got one of the label kits from DeLorean Motor Company and saw the
warning "Do not operate lock when doors are open."  What exactly will occur
if the locks are activated on open doors?  The reason I ask is because I'm
having an unusual problem with my door locks where the driver's side is
constantly trying to lock itself and no matter how hard I push it will never
move the lever to the fully unlocked position.  It's not a problem with the
solenoid, it just physically won't move to the open position easily.  Most
of the time I have to hold the lock open while I pull the door handle just
to open it, this only really happens in hot weather.  One of the lock rods
is vibrating against the inner door structure and I think it may be bent.
I'm looking to replace the rear latch since I have an extra but I will get
to that in another post.  I've got classes at night so I need the time
first.

Subject: cooling system hose diameter?

List,

I need to replace my thermotime switch either today or tomorrow but when i
drain my coolant to avoid making a mess on the front of my engine, i want to
replace the two flexible radiator hoses on the bottom of the car (this will drain
most of it anyway).  these are the hoses that make the angle from straight
metal lines under the car to the metal hoses that go upward to the engine.  i am
referring to part 43 on Houston's site (cooling system), or 105994 in the
parts manual.

i want to source these locally to save time and i need to know the length and
diameter that i need before i start this job.

thanks!

Subject: San Diego British Car Day - you missed a good one!

Even though mine was the only Delorean there yesterday, it was a fine
day.  They produce a large program for the event, including a color
center spread featuring pictures from last year's event.  My Delorean
made that collection!  They placed me next to the Lotus group, so it
was great fun to compare/contrast with our automotive cousins.  My
car tied for 1st place in the "Other" category, but lost the run-
off.  This is California, can I have a recall? ;)  I had lots of
people come by to look and ask questions.  The highlight though was
one gentleman with a British accent who seemed very knowledgeable
about the car.  He introduced himself as Alan Cross, and he used to
be chief engineer for Delorean.  He spent quite some time telling me
stories, and I am hoping to get him to attend our local events.

One thing for your calendars: April 17, 2004 will be the 9th Annual
Rolling British Car Day.  This will be the 9th annual event.  For
2003, they had 131 cars, including 9 Deloreans!  Many people at
yesterday's event remembered our participation quite vividly.  I'll
provide more information as we get closer.

I have a couple body panels (drivers front, drivers rear, passenger

it that you can see at certain angles.  All other panels are in
great shape.  Email me privately if you are interested.
I also have other major Delorean parts for sale like a good engine
and 5 speed tranny.  Also certain interior parts.  Email me if you
are intersted.

Subject: Removing front impact absorber

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the front impact absorber off.  The manual says to remove the 5 bolts holding it on, which seems easy enough.  The location of the bolts would also seem obvious, with the 5 holes in the front of the absorber.  However, the only thing I see at the far end of those holes is a flat piece of metal, not a bolt head.  Are the bolts behind that piece?  And if so, how do I get to them?  I know the bolts are in there somewhere - I can see them when I look up between the edge of the foam and the front pontoon.

Any insight would be appreciated - this one has me stumped.

Subject: Tuning, tuning and more tuning.

Since I had plugged the idle tube vacuum leak and couldn't find any
other vacuum leaks, I have wanted to plug my O2 sensor back in, and
let the Lambda computer try to regulate the frequency valve again.

I have a new O2 sensor. I can't find any vac leaks (which doesn't
mean there aren't any).

I hooked up the dwell meter and watched. Since it is so much cooler
here in Maryland now, the warm up took longer. Finally the O2 sensor
began sending voltage.

The dwell meter exhibited a much more consistent behavior this time
but I'm not sure it's right yet. I also read that if it wasn't
behaving right, to run a new ground from the block to the ECU
bracket. I did this but it didn't help.

The idle was a tad rougher, only noticable by ear. The tach never
wavered.

The manual says the dwell meter should fluctuate between 35-45
degrees. Mine goes to 30, climbs to 45 and just -drops- back to 30.
The range is close, but isn't it supposed to be a steady rocking back
and forth vs. a climb/drop sort of motion?

Thanks,

Rich

Those are kind of strange. The driver side is 1-1/4" on both ends
with a very slight bend to it. The passenger side is 1-1/4" on one
end and about 1-1/2" or so on the other. Also with a slight kink.
They are NOT straight hoses. The tube on the passenger side that
goes "up" is larger since it is the trans cooler on Automatic cars.
They kept it the same size on the manual cars so that the hoses would
stay the same, although there is no reason for that particular pipe
to be larger.

Make sure the fan is rotating in the correct direction. Reverse the
wires going to the motor if it is wrong. Check that none of the vent
hoses are out of place. Watch the actuaters move as you move the mode
switch into different positions. If the mode switch is hissing get a
rebuild kit. If you try this with the doors open it isn't a good test
because the air gets blown into the doors. Check that the vent hoses
in the doors are connected too.

A bad flasher would cause the lights NOT to work, never to work on
their own. My first guess would be to check the turn switch in the
steer column and the hazard switch. It is always a good idea to check
and clean all the grounding points.

Payne, The original alternator has a high turn on speed and to generate any
appreciable amount of current to power the lights or fans at idle is almost
impossible.
My up graded alternators have a lower turn on speed and deliver more current
and voltage at lower RPM's. You also need to check and clean the grounds.
This will help on the low voltage and dimming.

Subject: [DML] wacky indicators

Driving my D today I've noticed my indicators are
acting strangely.Sometimes they work,sometimes they
don't.They even come on on their own.The hazard lights
are also not working.Needless to say I want to fix
this ASAP.I was wondering could this be a bad flasher
unit?I also want to clean the earth for the indicator
circuit to see if that fixes it.Is it in that group of
earths near the front left wheel?
Any ideas welcome
Thanks,
Andrew

I need the people who asked me to supply them with the radiation costumes to seriously consider ordering or buying them from another source. My company has moved the chemical suits in our building to a location where I cant easily get to them without being caught.I will still do my best to get them but it may take alot more time and halloween is right around the corner.

Next to the gas pedal, there is a group of three diodes.
