Great idea... but why not just jack up the front left wheel and have a
helper
rotate it? Sounds safer and more controlled. I'm not being a wise guy- I
once ran over my own foot with a van I was operating. Don't ask how. (A
hint- I didn't say "driving.") lol

Subject: Number of Cars built
Would there not be an accurate count from the Irish Gov't. Surely there
had to be taxes paid, registration or accountability on the number of cars
to justify the concessions given by local, and federal governments. Quite
frankly, it makes no difference to me if there were 9353, 8721 or 8977.6
made. It's a neat car and less than 10,000 were produced. People that need
the exact count have too much time on their hands!!

Can anyone out there say where to get a transmission pan gasket? I'm not
interested in paying 5 prices for something someone makes in his garage.
I
can do that myself. Has anyone had any luck with finding transmission
filters lately?
For what it's worth, my transmission expert looked at my car and found
that
he could not locate a filter or pan gasket. He thought that if he could
get
a pan gasket then he would drop the pan, clean the old filter and check
things out. But he is in the business of rebuilding transmissions, not
making gaskets. So he is going to check his suppliers some more to try to
find at least a gasket, maybe a filter if he is lucky.
Meanwhile, he played around with the car and said that the rattle I'm
probably hearing is from the differential. But it should only make a
noise
during a significant change in momentum.
So for now, it sounds like I wasn't playing my radio loud enough. Next
time
I'll play it louder so I don't hear those noises.

Subject: Testing Used Fuel Pump
I just received a list member's old fuel pump to use as an emergency
spare. I want to test it out without actually installing it into the
car, but I'm not sure exactly how to do it. I know it gets it's
lubrication from the gas, which is why they can so easily fail with a
blocked pickup line. But I was wondering if I could just test it using
a bucket of water? Or would water be too thin and may damage it?
Otherwise, I guess I could get a hose into a container of gas. Thanks
for the help!

Yea, I understand what your talking about, and manually turning the
front wheel is acually what I did because I already had it jacked up
trying to figure out what caused my speedo failure to begin with. I
just thought jacking up the front would be more work than necessary,
especialy if someone doesn't have a jack or is unfamiliar with the
proper way to do it. What turned out to be the problem with my
speedo
is the short drive cable that goes through the wheel to the plastic
center cap has come out of the angle drive. Does anyone know if it
is
possible to reinsert it without buying a new angle drive? Thanks.

Subject: MCC AutoFest - Evansville
Just a reminder - The My Classic Car - AUTOFEST 2000 event is this
weekend,
Oct 13-14-15, in Evansville Indiana.
I have been told by our clubs host hotel, the Red Roof Inn, that all
the
rooms we had blocked out for Delorean members under the "MidStateDMC" club
have been filled and that the hotel itself is also full. If anyone is
interested in attending and has decided not to because of the lack of
motel
rooms, please e-mail me and we'll see what we can do about getting you a
room. We have some "inside" access thru one of our club members to this
and a
few other motels in the area, so we can try and pull a few strings to help
out.
Let me know if you'd like to attend and we'll see what we can do.
