Like some others have stated, its pretty easy to remove...just two screws in
the back and w/o the A/C panel it should come right up.  Did you disconnect
the dimmer and the clock? DO NOT take a hammer to it though!  If so, could
you possibly take a pic of it and post it in the vault or email it to me?  I
can't remember if you had a manual or auto, but if its an auto, there is
also a small lightbulb that is attached to the shifter selector on the
drivers side that comes right out.

Shannon, I bought the last of the existing parts from this dealership last
December. The owner is very seldom there but maybe Bob or myself when I get
by there won't mind. I posted about this car several months ago when he was
asking $65,000.00 but didn't really want to sell it.

I would LOVE to have one of those!  I have a clock, but the green casing is
completely dirty and I don't really have a use for the clock anyway and
would love to have something more practical and functional.  Would you
happen to sell them?

Aha! - they're called screw gears. Very inefficient and extremely prone 
to failure if not kept lubricated.... Why has nobody redesigned the 
angle drive to use bevel gears? They'd be much more tolerant and reliable

I was comming home last night from Sioux Falls and happend to see 2
D's during my trip!

The first one is for sale in Sioux Falls for $28,900 and looks to be a
concours class car.  It has the plastic rad. bottle and the NCT's the
salesman stated that it was not a driver car but a collector car.  The

The car only has 1,500 miles on it.  Looks nice has black interior and
a five speed.  Looks like the door struts were replaced with ones from
Grady.

The second D I saw was on I-29 headed north and had the license plate
with the county number 43, I believe this would be lake county.

If you are on this list I would LOVE to talk to you about your car.

There is also, I believe, a Datsun dealership in Okla. City with an unsold 
'82.  Several yrs. ago I checked on it & it was still there. They wanted a 
rather high price, then, too.  This was the OKC DeLorean dealership.

I am trying to decide wheather to buy a DeLorean or a Bricklin. I 
know that Bricklins doors tend to leak but I do not know if DeLorean 
doors leak. I have a pretty good idea that they don't but I am not 
positive. As you can tell I currently do not own a D but do plan on 
buying one in the near future.

Any car can have a leaky door not just Deloreans or Bricklins. A 
Delorean door will leak if the weather strip is bad, door not aligned 
correctly, a high pressure car wash or other problems but all of the 
problems can be fixed so the door will not leak.

Deloreans have less problems with their doors compared to the electric 
30 second to one minute opening Bricklin doors. And Deloreans have more 
NOS (new old stock) parts available and have a big selection of vendors 
to buy from.

When your battery goes dead on a Bricklin you have to crawl in through 
the rear hatch of the car to get in, on a Delorean you can just open 
the door.

They are very different cars, except for the fact that
both are unique!  :)

IMHO (and I like BOTH DeLoreans, and Bricklins), the
DeLorean is more refined where the Bricklin seems more
like a kit car... However, if your want to drive fast
you will be happier with a Bricklin.

Non essential parts stolen from last mechanic and never returned!  Anyone parting out a Delorean?
Parts needed are as follows: 
 
3 access panels in the trunk (underneath the carpet)-I need the carpet too, also in the trunk with backing.
 
AIR BOX ASSEMBLY that houses the air filter.  Especially looking for the STAINLESS STEEL CLEAR LEXON TYPE, I know someone on the list used to make it.
 
Also missing are floor mats.

Geeze,

This is a no-brainer. There are more parts suppliers, service centers 
and parts available for the DeLorean. It's true that the Bricklin's 
engine is way common, but that's not where the problems usually occur.

DeLorean doors have been known to leak, but not as chronically as the 
Bricklin. New seals usually do the job. Easily available. How big is 
the internet owner base for Bricklins? Probably not as big as ours. 
That means limited tech support. I don't know if you're the handy 
type who can easily fabricate or adapt for unavailable parts.

Now for the opinionated part:

Bricklins are harsh, angular vehicles aesthetically. To me, they look 
tiny inside. The DeLorean has a much more instinctive, pleasing 
shape. It has plenty of room inside for a 2 seater. I think the 
Bricklin is very interesting but it's kind of like comparing Cro-
Magnon man to Modern Man if you ask me. DeLoreans are 2800 lbs. of 
stainless steel and sex appeal.

I guess it all depends on what you're after though. Tell us which one 
you end up choosing.
